Genesis 6:5-13 – JUDGEMENT AND WARNING

Genesis 6:5-13 – JUDGEMENT AND WARNING

I. Vss. 5-7: Great Wickedness of Man in Noah’s Day:

Matthew 24:37: “as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

1 Samuel 15:29 tells us that “God is not a man, that He should repent.”

1 Samuel 15:11: “I regret (repent) that I have made Saul king, for he has turned back from following me and has not performed my commandments.” And Samuel was angry, and he cried to the LORD all night.

II. Vss. 8-10: Noah and His Sons.

found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah didn’t earn grace; he found it.

Hebrews 11:7 says: By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

Genesis 8:20: Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and took some of every clean animal and some of every clean bird and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

III. Vss. 11-13: Corruption of Earth and the Grace of God.

Matthew 24:36-42: But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.

2 Peter 2:5 says And He did not spare the old world, but saved Noah the eighth one, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.

Here are some things we can take away from this.

  1. We know we are supposed to watch!
  2. We can have faith.
  3. We can stand alone; Noah did. He didn’t have what we have; it can be lonely.
  4. We can walk with God. In whatever He has given you.
  5. We can lead a Godly life (and family).
  6. We can do what is right in the sight of God.
