GODS COVENANT WITH NOAH – Genesis 9:1-17

Psalms 127:3-5: Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.

“dread” could better be defined as “terror”

Leviticus 17:11: For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.

Deuteronomy 12:23: Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.

Hebrews 9:26: …. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

• Blood was the sign of mercy for Israel at the first Passover (Exodus 12:13).
• Blood sealed God’s covenant with Israel (Exodus 24:8).
• Blood sanctified the altar (Exodus 29:12).
• Blood set aside the priests (Exodus 29:20).
• Blood made atonement for God’s people (Exodus 30:10).
• Blood sealed the new covenant (Matthew 26:28).
• Blood justifies believers (Romans 5:9).
• Blood brings redemption (Ephesians 1:7).
• Blood brings peace with God (Colossians 1:20).
• Blood cleanses believers (Hebrews 9:14, 1 John 1:7).
• Blood gives entrance to God’s holy place (Hebrews 10:19).
• Blood sanctifies the Christian (Hebrews 13:12).
• Blood enables believers to overcome Satan (Revelation 12:11).

Romans 13:1-4: Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval, for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.

Numbers 35:31-34: Moreover, you shall accept no ransom for the life of a murderer, who is guilty of death, but he shall be put to death. And you shall accept no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the high priest. You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in the midst of which I dwell, for I the LORD dwell in the midst of the people of Israel.”

Martin Luther said, “God establishes government and gives it the sword to hold wantonness in check, lest violence and other sins proceed without limit.”

Genesis 8:21-22: And when the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma, the LORD said in his heart, “I will never again curse the ground because of man, for the intention of man’s heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

Jude 1:6: And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day.

2 Peter 3:1-7: This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water by the word of God, and that by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished. But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Isaiah 54:9-10: “This is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, and will not rebuke you. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

Ezekiel 1:28: Like the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud on the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard the voice of one speaking.

Revelation 4:3: And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald.
