A book called “On the Imitation of Christ” written by an Augustine monk that said “Man does what he can, God does what He will.”
Proverbs 19:21: Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.
I. Vss. 1-4: Building a Tower of Pride:
Genesis 10:8-10: Cush fathered Nimrod (“to rebel”); he was the first on earth to be a mighty man. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. Therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the LORD.” The beginning of his kingdom was Babel, Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
A ziggurat was like a pyramid except that the successive levels were recessed so that you could walk it the top on steps.

Psalm 2:1-3: Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.”
II. Vss. 5-9: God Confuses the Language of Man:
Proverbs 16:18 says; Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Jesus warned that those who exalt themselves will be humbled.
Matthew 23:12; Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
“anthropomorphic,” when God is described as having a human form or attributes that belong to humans.
The word “babel” as I said means “the gate of the gods.” It sounds like the Hebrew word “balal” which means “confusion.”
1 Corinthians 14:33: For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints.
Genesis 12:2: And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
Babylon is called “the Great Whore.” While Jerusalem is “The Bride of Christ.”
