- Vss. 35-37: True Greatness in Gods Kingdom:
Mark 10:44-45: And whoever of you desires to become first, he shall be servant of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
The word for servant is diakonos-(dee-ak’-on-os)-Attendant, waiter. We get deacon from this.
Philippians 2:3-9: Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name
1 Peter 5:5 says; …“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
Pride is about my glory; humility is about God’s glory.
C.S. Lewis said “Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less.”
- Vss. 38-41; Anyone Not Against Us is For Us:
Matthew 7:21-23 Jesus says: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never (Ever) knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Romans 14:4: Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
